Protostar is an early stage of star formation

Protostar is an early stage of star formation

 Smell of river ash

Old clothes hung across thin wires that hide the sun

Handful of crumpled papers –ration slips

That were pocketed and lost and now scattered elsewhere

Thin numbers born out of the skull

Added and subtracted consuming space and time

Repeated in history over many incidents

That guide us through narrow by-lanes

Taking photographs of old minarets and temples

Somebody moves on the floor

Crippled like a fragment of broken glass

Blind without symmetry

Utterly playing the strange role cast out for him

He might kiss the penny as a token for life

Or spit on it with disgust

But never doubt the struggle he confronts

To create and execute what the universe is

Fending it off

Through his loathing and suffering

And misunderstood songs which he sings relentlessly

At evening when the sun is slow going by the river

Riding the boat in eternal trance

The light that shines through

Is far greater than what we receive

We give more or less

And fail to consider the light for all

And all for that light the proscenium is full

Impersonating the macabre violent misery and bliss

For a touch of personal invincibility

From which all great souls are born

That makes existence what it is

Endearing colours of a new day

And steaming chai on the concrete steps

Gave thoughts to constellations on a blank space

Making the protostar swell like a bubble in the void

And the old man fell asleep

Night’s blanket was warm beneath the clouds

Tomorrow it may rain, it will…

“Recognize the right direction

In which history should proceed

Joining hands as kin
Beyond the differences of
Race, nation or class
Let us, with compassion
Vow to bring to realization
Our deep desire
For emancipation
And construct a world in which
All can live truly and fully”.

– Recognize the right direction …truly and fully” -From ‘Vow of Humankind’ explaining the nuggets of Vimalakīrti Sūtras /A Mahāyāna Scripture
