Opening the Gates of ‘Buddhi’ by Unwrapping the Different Layers of Matter: THE WAVES OF BEAUTY (SAUNDARYA LAHARI) CAN BE LOCALIZED IN NEW MATTER

Swargarohini, Badrinath Dham

Sri Aniban Ji explains the term ‘Buddhi’ which appears with some frequency in Bhagawat Gita and says that it means ‘awakening, kindling, enlightenment’ having its its roots in the Vedas. It is invariably associated with Agni or the unaging (ajara) Mystic Fire. Buddhi is used in the Gita in the original sense of illumination or awakening. The Mystic Fire described in the Vedas is the universal life, the immortal principle in the mortals (Rig Veda). It is lying in us in so many wonderful ways to impel us to the journey. Buddhi is not Intelligence as used by Neuroscience or it is not even Multiple Intelligence. It is higher than Mind or Manas as we know it. Buddhi operates through the psyche which is not the ego but the chit-agni or caitya-purusha. Buddhi is a divine spark with a holistic dimension though it may be directed towards matter but it has the openness of the spirit and is beyond the biological limitations or the logic of the membrane.

Nirguna Brahman is the unconditioned Brahman or the Pure Consciousness

It is negation of all attributes and relations

It is beyond time-space and causality (SO WE DON”T HAVE ANY PHYSICS OR MATHEMATICS FOR IT YET – QUANTUM GRAVITY WILL NOT HELP!)

Only if one admits the existence of Nirguna Brahman as an unchanging substratum can one understand proximity in space, succession in time and the interdependence in the chain of causality.

Nirguna Brahman is the basis of Saguna Brahman, or the Personal Godhead, who is immanent in the universe and conditioned by Maya.

Silence stabilizes the dynamic construction of the self in the process of becoming

it looked through all the mirrors surrounding itself

light bounced off creating patterns of infinite reflections

It identified self-hood as a yogic journey seeking of the mystic fire

Above the syllables of time

In a sea of eternal childhood

When the mountains in their motionless poise

Embraced the burning embers of the immutable sun

Chanting the Maha Mritunjay mantra

In a rhythm that permeated the heart of all existence

Touching saptarishi dhara’s origination point

Down the axis to the valley of flowers

Where in the profusion of the aroma of colors

Music overflowed the golden cup

Dancing like the river as it swirled and turned….

That is the DEFINITION OF SRI ADI SHANKARACHARYA’S SAUNDARYA LAHIRI or ‘THE WAVES OF BEAUTY’

‘’The spirit’s alchemist energy is hers;

She is the golden bridge, the wonderful fire.

The luminous heart of the Unknown is she,

A power of silence in the depths of God;

She is the Force, the inevitable Word,

The magnet of our difficult ascent…’’

-Savitri, Sri Aurobindo
