‘I take refuge in the wonderful law of the Lotus Sutra’

  • Founded by Japanese Monk, Nichidatsu Fuji (1885-1985), the Nipponzan Monastery at the heart of Kolkata in Lake Place is an ideal place for meditation on the Lotus Sutra, which incidentally is the last teaching of Buddha’s life.
  • The ancient link b/w India and Japan was reinstated after Rabindranath Tagore’s visit to Japan in 1916; the Poet also met Sri Mirra Alfassa in Japan who would later join Sri Aurobindo in Pondicherry.
  • Fuji was very much influenced by the writings of Nichiren and thought of travelling to India, the spiritual birthplace, to invigorate the teachings of Enlightenment. This was a difficult time here in Calcutta when the country was striving for freedom from the British Colonial Rule.
  • Fuji arrived in 1931 and walked the streets near lake place beating his drum and chanting ‘Namu Myoho Renge Kyo’.
  • He met Mahatma Gandhi in 1933 at Wardhah and shared his ideas of compassion and non-violence.
  • Industrialist and philanthropist, Sri Jugal Kishore Birla gave him land to build a monastery in 1935 which is now the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Monastery at 60/1, Kabi Bharati, Kolkata 700029

“The Knowing Self is not born;
It does not die. It has not sprung from anything;
nothing has sprung from It. Birthless, eternal, everlasting,
and ancient, It is not killed when the body is killed”.
– Katha Upanishad

Kankali Tala Temple, Birbhum -one of the 51 Shakti-Pithas

KANKALI TALA TEMPLE -one of the most important Shakti Pithas among the historical 51 pithas. Sri Mata Parvati’s skeleton (kankal) is believed to have fallen here during the great cosmic tandava (dance/surge of Macro-cosmic energy) of Lord Shiva. Therefore, it is a spiritual center or a powerful energy-vortex.

All objects are the perceiving of them, and the perceiving of them is
what they are. It follows that the perceiving of them is not separate
from the objects, and the objects are not separate from the perceiving
of them.

Therefore, no objects exist as objects, either as phenomena or in noumenon.

APPEARING (FORM) is not an object, but a functioning. It appears as a
objectivisation.

HAPPY 2017 – As we are LINKS in the CHAIN, I open my heart to all of
you so we can walk together to see the great transformation coming to
this world. It will be a higher consciousness of technology that will
enable a sustainable living based on higher ethics and aesthetics.

Love & Peace

  • To progress in the practice of recognizing MIND ESSENCE, it is important to generate FAITH  and DEVOTION  towards ENLIGHTENED BEINGS and COMPASSION towards those who are not enlightened.

A complete presence of the mind

Is the Awareness of the Universe

As Empty Oneness

It becomes still as the eye of the night heron

Waiting for a slight flutter in the lake

The fish underneath swirling unknowingly

At last death conjoins life to another life

To experience the soul’s eternal journey to its source

Myriad beings are caught in this web

They are all eternal in the flame that can never extinguish

Brahman in the stone,

In a mouthful of water gulped down by a dying man

In the streets where children dance,

In the laughter of the skies when thunder and lightning strike

Oceans are surging with waves of compassion

Stars are gliding past eyes

In the flicker of a moment

The crowning sun will embellish all agony and power

When you grow young you are old

When you grow old you are young

Beyond all that you are the ageless spirit:

The eye of the heron or fins of the fish

A supremely transcendental being

I am the Bodhisattva Manjushri

The red stone in Attahash

The Kalpabriksha, the Baobab tree

I am the essence of the Supreme Essence

That comes out of the void and goes back to the void

“Our revels now are ended. These our actors,

As I foretold you, were all spirits, and
Are melted into air, into thin air;
And like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp’d towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherits shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on; and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep”.
